Donate Today: Help Us Help Trees and People
Trees face many challenges these days. Compacted soils, higher temperatures, and the influx of exotic pests place enormous stress on today’s trees. Their lifespan is short, and when they die, we rarely replace them.
Rural forests are under extreme pressure as well. Forest fragmentation there is the biggest problem. Fueled by the creation of solar farms and new housing developments, tree losses are mounting, and urban and community forests are shrinking.
Our goal is to create healthy urban and community forests, support a vibrant economy, and enrich all Rhode Islanders’ lives. Like National Grid and RIDEM, many local and national organizations are strong supporters of RI Tree and its mission.
“I am very grateful for what I have learned through RI Tree. It has completely changed my view of the outside world. Thanks.”
Special Tree Funds
Donations to the funds list below help us maintain healthy, beautiful tree canopies over Rhode Island cities and towns for future generations to enjoy. Education and stewardship are critical. An informed public can make a difference.
Likewise, proper tree management is critical for conserving urban trees and forests. RI Tree Council offers the following special funds to meet these challenges. Please consider a gift to one or all of them. Thank you for your generous support.
NOTABLE TREE FUND
These funds help provide life-extending care (I.e., pruning, chemical treatments, protection, etc.) to public trees of notable qualities (i.e., size, species, historical significance, and so on) found in the Big Tree Registry maintained by the RI Tree Council.
TREE STEWARDS FUND
These funds help purchase materials and tools (i.e., water bags and buckets, mulch, rakes, shovels, pruning shears, etc.) for community service projects organized by the RI Tree Council.
RHODE ISLAND TREE COUNCIL FUND*
This is an endowment fund established by the Rhode Island Foundation in 2007. We use these funds to support the Tree Council education programs (i.e., Tree Stewards, Informational Lectures and Training Workshops, etc .).
*Make your check payable to The Rhode Island Foundation. Note RITC Fund on the check. Then, send the check to The Rhode Island Foundation, One Union Station, Providence, RI 02903.
Gifts to the Rhode Island Tree Council are tax-deductible as permitted by law.
Together, we’ll make a difference!
